Berwick is home to the public Casey Hospital, the hospital received an increase of $22.2 million in funding to provide an extra 30 beds. A private hospital is in planning stage for the suburb as well and on completion will provide an extra 229 hospital beds as well as associated services. A range of allied health services combined with Monash University make up the Berwick Healthcare Clinic. The Clinic is a centre for the training of doctors, medical and nursing staff.
Berwick is well serviced for public transport with a dedicated train station. The Beaconsfield Station also handles commuters in the area on the Pakenham line. Bus services are located in the area and service local public transport users looking to move easily amongst the areas facilities. Major roads in the area include Clyde Road, and the Princes and Monash Freeways. Recent expansion of the Monash has help to ease transportation times to the city.
The Education and health sectors have been key to recent economic growth in the area. The Berwick campus of Monash University has an expansion plan in place which will see the campus grow from 2,000 students to around 10,000 by 2020. Growth is also underway for the Berwick campus of the Chisholm Institute of TAFE with 26 million earmarked for development and support of the facility. Both development projects will drive the need for investment housing in the area.
Current council projects include a $1.7 million dollar sporting complex to be added to nearby Casey Fields.
